Saturday 12th July - the All American Barbeque

Today was more relaxed. Ian and Kristy had organised an "All American Barbecue" with some of their friends so we were busy helping with that. The mix of both traditional Japanese and American food made for interesting eating. There were lots of kids as well as parents: Emily and Matthew, Phil and Kumi, Keiko and Dan and Brian and Kyoko. When everyone was full to bursting a watermelon was produced for Suika wari, a game similar to Pinata only using a watermelon, the winner is the one who makes the biggest split in the melon. When the melon is sufficiently broken it is served up for everyone to eat. the grand finale was S'mores: toasting marshmallows over the fire and eating them with chocolate between Graham crackers (similar to Digestives). Don't think any of us will have much for dinner tonight.

After lunch at about 6:00pm James and Julia left for the airport

  1. Hi guys. You appear to be having a magic time! I am soooo jealous. Would love to be home in Scotland with you. I hope this blog works - quite a mission for an old computer illiterate like me to get it worked out!! All the best for the rest of your trip. (Even found Eyemouth on the scottish map in the loo downstairs!!)
