Scottish Independence 18th September

Muir and Ross are both in favour of this idea:

The Issues seem to be:

  1. The European Union membership and its personalities - Spain could be unhappy about allowing Scotland in because the Basques might then agitate for the same thing.
  2. Currency. Big financial institutions are based in Scotland. Bank of Scotland debt as opposed to the Royal bank of Scotland
  3. Defence. UK nuclear defence force is based in Scotland. There are NATO obligations
  4. The ……………….. agreement about border security that the UK and Ireland have requiring visitors to present their passports at the border.
  5. North Sea Oil.

Douglas Young says that Martin Schultz of the European Economic Union knows if the EU would allow Scotland in as he requested the information, but he won’t tell what the results are. He is the leader of the Centre Left Block of the EU parliament.

If New Zealand can make it with a population of 4 million, then surely Scotland can with 5 million. They just have to have the desire to make it happen!
