Wednesday 9th July Trains, Grand Central Station, lunch and St.Patrick's

Started off today by going into Nyack West to "Target", a store like K-Mart, in the big shopping mall there to buy some clothes as my suitcase still hasn't arrived. I got sandals, shorts, a T-shirt and some underwear for about $100US - felt much better, especially having shirts and sandals rather than longs and shoes!

From there we went to Tarrytown to catch the train in to New York Grand Central Station! It cost us about $100US return for the six of us. This one stopped at every station, but it was a good ride - nice seats. Conductor came and clipped our tickets.

This where we arrived; Grand Central Station New York.

We passed the shoe shine boys hard at work and saw a white man polishing a black man's shoes - times have changed!

The celestial ceiling in the Grand Central Station - pale egg-shell blue with the signs of the Zodiac pictured.
When we got back afterwards to go home, all the stars in the constellations were beginning to shine!
This is where we had lunch. I had a shrimp sandwich for $6US. It was very good. Ian tipped the waitress 20%!

Then we found St. Patrick's Cathedral which was being renovated. It was absolutely huge inside! It felt like like a little bit of home.

Here is a shot of it before the renovations took over.

Here is Park Avenue! From here we went down to 5th Avenue where all the expensive shops are like: Cartier, Gucci and so on. We didn't go into any of those!
