Friday 25th - Eyemouth at last!

We left Easter Cottage at about 11:00am and skirted around Edinburgh until we got to the A1. We stopped at Haddington to buy some lunch and took it out to a view point called Trapain Law

From there we made our way to the turn off on the A1077 to Coldingham and Eyemouth. It was unrecognisable! Huge housing estates had been built up round it. Eventually we found the old part that I remembered and found Allanbank, our B & B quite by chance.

It is lovely! We are up on the second floor with lovely rooms. Archie and Marilyn our hosts were nice.

After sorting ourselves out and a rest we went for a walk down-town to find the Information Centre, some fish and chips and the harbour.

We went passed Jackson's Hotel, now a restaurant:

and passed my old school.

Mr. Dunnet was the headmaster in those days. All the boys were scared of him. I remember the boy Jackson who came from the hotel and Alec Scoogle whom I hated.

Penton Terrace

From there we went down Penton terrace and got down to the harbour to look at all the fishing boats.

We found Mackay's fish n chips shop and while I ordered 2 x Haddock and chips for 6.50 each, Mary-Ann went to the little Co-operative to buy two quarter bottles of wine.

Then we sat on the harbour-front and ate them in front of the watchful seagulls.

When we had finished we walked up to see if we could find the museum and found Giacopazzi's shop. I remember him riding his bicycle round with a cooler on it selling icecreams.
