Monday 14th July The Isle of Sheppey - James & Julia's place

When we landed at Heathrow the customs inspection appeared to be non-existent. The only formality we had to go through was immigration in the form of a very nice muslim woman who was quietly spoken and friendly. Thereafter nothing, until we got to the Arrival's Lounge and James and Julia! However, after lugging the cases upstairs at their house Mary-Ann was perturbed to find the padlock was missing from her case, further investigation revealed it inside the case together with a note to say that the bag had been randomly searched by immigration! (Thank goodness I'd done the washing at Ian and Kristy's! Mary-Ann)

It was a beautiful summer's day and interesting driving along the M2 to Sheerness; plenty of shrubs and trees and traffic - 4 lanes in each direction though. Eventually we came to the Sheppey Crossing: the bridge that connected Kent to the island of Sheppey.

After about an hour and 45 minutes altogether we got to their house in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey.

It is a lovely house - upstairs and downstairs with a little back yard and front that found the sun nicely. Later we went for a drive to the Morrison's supermarket to buy some supplies for the week.

During the afternoon Mary-Ann and I went for a walk up the hill above their house and discovered a charming little village with two pubs.

  1. Beautiful England. Enjoy!
Sorry, Mary-Ann - we haven't struck LOTTO this week, so you have to come back to work eventually!
