Monday 21st July - Kings Cross

We started off today by getting up at 6:00am as the taxi was due to arrive at 7:15 which he duly did right on time. He drove us to Sittingbourne and we caught the train to St. Pancreas International at 7:41. When we got there we had to go out of that station, across the square into King’s Cross.

It was relatively easy to find our way to platform 1 where the train to Aberdeen was due to leave at 10:00am, although it was only 10 to 9. We had a coffee and a cake at the Pret a Manger café and then went to find a bookstore for Mary-Ann.

While I was waiting I notice a whole lot of people crowded round Platform 9¾ with Harry Porters luggage trolley half way through the walls!

When we got on the train I discovered that we had our back to the engine and no table – not ideal! The train is amazingly fast and quiet it just seemed to glide along.
High Speed trains at a standstill - this is the backend!
