Tuesday 5th August - Culloden

Supposed to be a fine day today - hopefully!

In the morning we went out to the battlefield site - a sad place to be!
Culloden Moor

The English, led by the Duke of Cumberland,
The Duke of Cumberland
were better armed and a much bigger army than the Jacobites supporting Bonnie Prince Charlie
Bonnie Prince Charlie
We wandered up among the tombstones and thought of the awful tragedy that went on there. 1200 Highlanders died in four hours!

We went up to the big cairn to commemorate what happened there
The memorial cairn
and then wandered back passed an old farmers cottage that had been there at the time
Mary-Ann outside the cottage
I was actually quite glad to leave the place!
